Aaahh, I love acupuncture!  I am back into my routine of getting regular acupuncture treatments, and it feels great.  In fact, Virginia gave me my weekly wellness session today.  Thanks Virginia!

As if all of the other benefits of acupuncture aren't enough to make it a part of your regular wellness regimen, here's something to think about; Modern science has demonstrated that acupuncture can increase your lifespan and decrease the risk of getting cancer.  This has been conventional wisdom in the East for thousands of years, but now we have fancy scientific studies from a smarty pants to prove it :)  Here's the lowdown...

Acupuncture increases and preserves telomere length. What are telomeres, you ask? Telomeres are repeating DNA sequences at the ends of chromosomes inside of the cell's nucleus.  These little guys may be likened to the plastic tips on shoelaces, keeping chromosome ends from fraying and sticking together, thus preventing the destruction of or scrambling of an organism's genetic information.

However, each time a cell divides, the telomeres get shorter. When they get too short, the cell can no longer divide, becomes inactive and ultimately dies. This shortening process is associated with aging, cancer, and a higher risk of death. So the long and short of it is (see how I did that?), you want long telomeres.

That's where acupuncture comes in. Acupuncture makes that happen and keeps it happening.  Here is the abstract of the study showing how acupuncture increases telomere length.

I invite you to schedule your next telomere lengthening session now!  Better yet, sign up for our wellness membership and keep your telomeres happy well into being a centenarian.  Okay, enough big words for today.

See you soon,

Joe
